OC Golf Course

It's very unfortunate that Tiger Woods is going to miss the rest of the golf season with knee surgery.  This means that golf will generally be less dramatic on TV and ratings and popularity of the sport will suffer.

However, I'm hopeful that one thing will happen because of Tiger's absence: USA will finally win the Ryder Cup this year.

Don't get me wrong.  I'm a Tiger fan and he is without question the best golfer ever to play the game.  However, he is intimidating to every other golfer him being on the USA team puts additional pressure on his teammates.

The Ryder Cup is about being together as a team and creating the synergies amongst teammates to win the matches.  The europeans do this very well because they always play with each other and travel together instead of seeing each other as competitors every other week.  This is something the USA team really needs to work on and it is much easier when everyone's main competitor, Tiger, is not there.

Also, Tiger's focus for the Ryder Cup is just not the same as the majors.  Sure, he attends and tries to play his best, but there's no determination.  If you want prove, all you need to see is his reaction when he makes a putt in the US Open versus one from the Ryder Cup.

Without the same level of focus and determination to win, Tiger is just not the same golfer.  These subtle things can influence his teammates in subtle ways, which is another reason why it is not good.

I know my view and points are pretty controversial but if the USA team wins this year, you would've heard it here first.
