Golf Digest is Telling Us What to Buy with its The Hot List 2009
If you're a golf nut like me, you know what I'm talking about when I say that I can't wait for Golf Digest's The Hot List every year. As I never have time to test out every driver, fairway woods, hybrids, irons, wedges, putters and balls out there, we rely on them to try the equipment out for us.
Through the years, I learned to trust this recommendation so much that I have a hard time wanting to buy anything that's not on the "gold list". In fact, if I wanted to buy a driver (for example), I almost always just go try the club with the highest performance rating and end my search.
What's the fun in that? What happened to the time when you try so many clubs that you start to piss off the sales guy? Now, those were the fun days right?
Here are the highest rated clubs this year:
Drivers Over $350: Titleist 909D2/909D3 or Ping Rapture V2
Drivers Under $350: Taylormade Burner ('09)
Fairway Woods: Titleist 909F2/F3
Hybrids: Callaway Big Bertha Diablo
Game Improvement Irons: Taylormade Burner
Super Game Improvement Irons: Mizuno MX-100
Player's Irons: Mizuno MP-52
Wedge: Titleist Vokey Design Spin Milled
Blade Putter Over $200: Titleist Cameron Studio Select
Blade Putters Under $200: Taylormade Daytona
Mid Mallet Putters: Titleist Cameron Fastback
Mallet Putters: Ping IWI CRAZ-E
Umm.. At least I can choose my own ball! (Oh wait, the ball recommendation is coming out in a few months)
