OC Golf Course

While browsing online today at the Apple store (of all places), I found out that Taylormade is offering a free custom fitting system online. As do all golfers, I was hoping that I can get a few more yards out of my clubs so I decided to give it a go and see what they recommend.

After I clicked, I was a little disappointed that it was only a recommendation for a driver. No matter though, I will take any help I can get.

Once inside the system, the first thing it asks for is my user information (as below)

I was impressed and looking forward to the results because while I expect them to ask my handicap, I didn't think the system would want to know how tall and heavy I am. Once I've entered all the information, the next page is..

Standard questions. I put in how far I normally hit my drivers and off I go. Notice the really nice graphics though. I know it does nothing to help my golf game but it makes the experience much better. After a few more screens of pretty much what my current equipment is...

The following is fun and interesting. It gives you 10 balls to drop on the screen where you usually hit the ball with 10 shots with the driver.

Trajectory, which I put medium for all options. I like how it always gives you an option of "I don't know" because sometimes you just don't!

After the last screen with shot shape, we get to the recommendation...

It thinks I should use the Taylormade Tour Burner (what a surprise since it's the newest driver from them). Here's the full spec.

Driver Model: Taylormade Tour Burner
Loft: 9.5 degrees
Shaft: RE* AX SuperFast 60
Flex: Regular

I don't agree with the online fitting system's recommendation of using the 9.5 degrees of loft because I think I would do better with a higher lofted driver. However, I shall go to the driving range and check this driver out!

Overall though, I really like this online fitting system. The price (free) is right, and the graphics are really nice. Taylormade obviously made this to get more business from us, but I think it genuinely will help our golf game.
