Feel Less Frustrated on the Golf Course by Being Realistic
I see golfers upset on the course all the time. Some yell out loud, some throw their clubs, and some even break their clubs. It is usually afterwards that they regret what they did, but I still see it happening again and again.
I'm not even sure why they are upset when they fail at trying to hit a shot that had a 1 percent chance of success! It almost seems like they expect the ball to curve around that tree through the opening and roll onto the green 180 yards away when they couldn't hit their drive that far.
If this is you, then try to tone down your expectation. Know your skill level and play accordingly. It's okay to chunk the ball every once in a while because this is normal. Don't worry about leaving the ball in the sand because most of us do that once in a while too! Just because you "can" hit a great shot doesn't mean you will do it every time. Be realistic about your game and you will feel more relaxed and shoot a better score!
Note that your playing buddies will thank you for this too!

Thanks for the advice. I must admit I get a bit irritated from time to time, probably shouldn’t take as many risks and I’ll play better!
No kidding. This is a typical par 4 for me. Drive down the right into the trees – ball comes to rest against a tree. Do I chip it out onto the fairway? Heck no! I lay into it a try get it on the green, but instead I hit the tree root and the ball goes out of bounds to my right. Nice! Oh well there’s always the next hole, I was just unlucky.
