We all want to lower our scores, but all we think about is how to drive the ball farther.  We know the way to lower scores is through a better short game but all we almost never spend anytime practicing the short game.  We spend all day trying to hit the ball 300 yards, but we never take the time to master that 3 foot putt.

If this is you, maybe it's time to step back and think of what it is we really want.  Do we really want to hit the ball 300 yards and impress no one as you are always in the woods, or do we really want to lower those scores?

Practice your chip shots, practice your putts and practice all the shots inside 100 yards.

Chip Shots
Even if you are a professional, there will be times when you have to chip the ball close to save par.  if you are good at chipping, it takes tremendous pressure off your putting game because you can just tap in for par instead of having a 6-7 footer for par.  With less pressure, you will notice that even your mid to long game will be better as you are more relax on the course!

Putting
Remember all those lip outs? Imagine what your score will be if you had none? Being a better putter is the most direct way of lower your scores because being able to drain those 6 footers are great for your scores.

The putting game and the chipping game goes hand in hand because putting will help relief the pressure on chipping and vice versa. This is truly one of those formulas where 1+1 = 3!

Shots Inside 100 Yards
Don't underestimate the importance of all those shots under 100 yards because having strong pitch shots will give you the confidence to layup when you are in trouble. Otherwise, you are just like most amateurs where they just want to try the shot that has a 1% chance of success.
