OC Golf Course

A hackers view of the wonderful and frustrating game of golf in Orange County

Next Week is British Open 2008 at Royal Birkdale Golf Club

british open 2008

With the 2008 British Open is starting next Thursday, all eyes are already on the tournament.  In a way, I feel bad for the winner tomorrow for the John Deere Classic but perhaps it's a gift for those players who don't like the spotlight.

This year's British Open is going to be played at Royal Birkdale, a course that has already held the open champion 8 previous times.  This year, the course is 155 yards longer than in 1998 when the open was last held but the real challenge will be the tighter bunkers, shot angles and mounds that are just put in.

Course Stats:
Par: 70
Total Yards: 7173

  1. I can’t wait till it’s the British Open! I live in the states and people here don’t realize that the British Open is a much bigger deal than the US Open, PGA Championship and the Masters around the world!!
