3G iPhone is Perfect for the Golf Course

Apple announced the 3G iPhone yesterday and one of the new feature of the sleek phone is GPS capability! Natively, it supports turn by turn direction with traffic indication so why can't it support Golf GPS?
With the Apple iPhone SDK, developers can already write software that will work with the iPhone so I really don't see why this won't happen in the near future. Hopefully it will come out soon so people using the SkyGolf SkyCaddie don't need to pay $20 a month for something that should be free. Speaking of this, I think I should search for this application and volunteer to be a beta tester to work out the bugs. If you know of anything like this, let me know so I can sign up!
Pretty soon, you will see golfers pulling out their phone to check yardages while you are yelling at them because you think they are trying to check their emails on the golf course!
There are a couple of Apple stores here in the OC (South Coast Plaza, Fashion Island just to name a few) just in case you want to go line up for it when it starts selling on July 11!
Can you imagine having an iPhone on the golf course that tells you how far the pin is? It will sure be convenient and an easy way to impress your friends! Once that software is available, I will be sure to write a review about it (assuming I have a 3G iPhone by then)!

I think Apple has a tight Non Disclosure Agreement for developers prevents companies from advertising their development of applications for the 3G iPhone. I have been unable to find any company out there that boasts development of this. I may have to download the SDK myself and start making something. I am going to wait until the official release of the iTunes App Store to see if anyone else has made it yet before I start. However, if there is enough interest, I will be making a website shortly that will allow people to submit golf course GPS coordinates as a possible open-source directory. If you are interested, please let me know.
The most fundamental thing to be dealt while playing golf is, among other things, the players length from the hole, green, and water hazards. For golf players out there, if you are interested in bettering your play, continue reading this piece of writing and learn more about the latest golf GPS units.
Golf GPS Units are well-nigh more than knowing distances. Depending on the model employed, some will offer an overview map of each hole, which allows you to preview potential trouble spots that you otherwise might only have known about after playing the hole and having found them the hard way. Knowing this information gives you the ability to opt for your tactic before you tee off. Some golf GPS units even include satellite images of every hole. So, along with providing exact distances, good GPS devices can help you with tactic and course administration
